how deep the Father's love for us

How deep the Father's love for us,
How vast beyond all measure
That He should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure
How great the pain of searing loss,
The Father turns His face away
As wounds which mar the chosen One,
Bring many sons to glory

Behold the Man upon a cross,
My sin upon His shoulders
Ashamed I hear my mocking voice,
Call out among the scoffers
It was my sin that held Him there
Until it was accomplished
His dying breath has brought me life
I know that it is finished

I will not boast in anything
No gifts, no power, no wisdom
But I will boast in Jesus Christ
His death and resurrection
Why should I gain from His reward?
I cannot give an answer
But this I know with all my heart
His wounds have paid my ransom

this has become my favorite song as of late, and i wanted to share it with you. i have made a commitment to look for the positive things in my life (i complain a lot) and this song has been an encouragement to me. while it is not too positive, it is a reminder of what we should be living for. so my friends, today i challenge you to live for God every moment in your life, not because that is what we should do as christians, but because he loved us that much. so if you want to think of negative things, think of hell and hopefully that will bring you to thoughts of Jesus and His unending love! may we all realize how vast beyond all measure His love is and know with all our hearts that His wounds have paid our ransom. live it!

I love this song too. I can hardly sing "ashamed I hear my mocking voice, call out amound the scoffrs. It was my sin that held Him there...." without choking up. Kills me everytime. Excellent lyrics through out the entire song.

I love it too! We sang it every few weeks at Redeemer in NY. It is so full of truth and good reminders!
