new way to practice geography

this post came about because of two events that happened today. one - i checked jen's blog. two - mat commented on how some of us haven't posted in a while and that is kind of boring. so in light of all of that... i have created another blog! this one is not as personal and will be used for my students someday. i want you to check it out and tell me what you think. so even if geography is your favorite subject to hate please look anyway you might like it?

on that blog i will be known as mrs. g so thanks,

love mrs. g

geography rocks

how deep the Father's love for us

How deep the Father's love for us,
How vast beyond all measure
That He should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure
How great the pain of searing loss,
The Father turns His face away
As wounds which mar the chosen One,
Bring many sons to glory

Behold the Man upon a cross,
My sin upon His shoulders
Ashamed I hear my mocking voice,
Call out among the scoffers
It was my sin that held Him there
Until it was accomplished
His dying breath has brought me life
I know that it is finished

I will not boast in anything
No gifts, no power, no wisdom
But I will boast in Jesus Christ
His death and resurrection
Why should I gain from His reward?
I cannot give an answer
But this I know with all my heart
His wounds have paid my ransom

this has become my favorite song as of late, and i wanted to share it with you. i have made a commitment to look for the positive things in my life (i complain a lot) and this song has been an encouragement to me. while it is not too positive, it is a reminder of what we should be living for. so my friends, today i challenge you to live for God every moment in your life, not because that is what we should do as christians, but because he loved us that much. so if you want to think of negative things, think of hell and hopefully that will bring you to thoughts of Jesus and His unending love! may we all realize how vast beyond all measure His love is and know with all our hearts that His wounds have paid our ransom. live it!

my prayer for you

"For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith - that you, being rooted and grounded in love, my have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen." Ephesians 3:14-21
please know, my friends, that i am praying for you. i am praying for your job change, for difficult people we work with, for travel mercies, for spirits and attitudes, for relationships to grow, for financial needs to be met, for new babies to grow and to arrive healthy, for times away from home to be well spent and worth the difficulty, and for all of us to know the power that is at work within us. may you find that today!

sisters, sisters

i love my sister! we have so much fun together and she can understand things about me that most people don't because she is like me in many ways. she also has qualities that balance me out because we are very different. we have many good memories and some not so good times but i don't remember those as well. she used to be the little sister who stole all my clothes and wanted to hang out with my friends. then i became the older sister who stole all her clothes and jewelry. now we are older sister, younger sister who struggle together and laugh together, not a whole lot of fighting anymore. so even through all the annoying things we do to each other we are growing closer and i hope it continues on even when we are really old sisters who go get their hair done together and go out to eat afterwards to show off our new hairdos! so sarah, i love you and i am glad we can talk, cry, and laugh together. first post of the new year!

2008 is here and i am excited! i think this year will be great and full of many experiences, some good and some possibly not but such is life. i have made some goals for the new year and i am still working on the list (i make the first week a free week to work out the kinks) but here are some that i have:

in no real order other than the order i remember them in...
  • workout at least 3x a week
  • eat much healthier foods
  • cook dinner at least 3x a week (i need fast, easy, healthy dinners, help me out people)
  • clean the house twice a month (been slacking lately)
  • play with and train the dog everyday
  • spend less money on coffee
  • plan my lessons one week ahead at work
  • communicate problems before they become real problems
  • work on my tolerance for things that annoy me
  • read my Bible just for fun more often
  • journal my thoughts and realizations about God and my life
  • look for God's involvement and direction in my life everyday
those are my goals for 2008 so far, i always make a lot so i have something left at the end of the year. we will see how it goes, feel free to ask me how i am doing any time, i like that. ~amy
